Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge Reopening: What to Expect

The Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge is set to reopen on July 9, 2021. This resort, which is located in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, has been closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the reopening date approaches, here’s what you can expect from the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Enhanced Cleaning and Sanitization

Disney has always been known for its high standards of cleanliness, but in light of the pandemic, they have implemented even more rigorous cleaning and sanitization protocols. This means that you can expect to see more frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, elevator buttons, and handrails. Additionally, there will be hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the resort to encourage guests to practice good hygiene.

Modified Dining Options

The Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge is known for its incredible dining options, but due to the pandemic, some of these options will be modified. For example, Boma – Flavors of Africa will not be offering its famous buffet. Instead, guests will be able to choose from a selection of entrees that will be served family-style. Similarly, Jiko – The Cooking Place will have a modified menu that focuses on its most popular dishes.

Reduced Capacity and Physical Distancing Measures

To promote physical distancing, Disney has implemented reduced capacity measures throughout the resort. This means that there will be fewer guests allowed in common areas, such as the lobby and pool. Additionally, physical distancing markers will be placed throughout the resort to remind guests to keep a safe distance from others.

Outdoor Activities and Recreation

One of the benefits of staying at the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge is the abundance of outdoor activities and recreation options. Despite the pandemic, many of these options will still be available to guests. For example, the Uzima Springs Pool will be open, but with reduced capacity. Additionally, guests can still go on a safari tour or take a guided nature walk.

Guest Reactions to the Reopening

Many Disney fans are thrilled to hear that the Animal Kingdom Lodge is reopening. Some have expressed excitement at the prospect of returning to their favorite resort, while others are eager to experience it for the first time. A few guests have expressed concerns about the modified dining options, but most are understanding of the changes that have been made due to the pandemic.

One guest wrote, “I can’t wait to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge again! It’s one of my favorite resorts, and I’ve missed it so much.” Another guest commented, “I’m a little disappointed about the modified dining options, but I understand that Disney is doing everything they can to keep us safe.”

Conclusion

The reopening of the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge is an exciting development for Disney fans. While there will be some modifications and changes due to the pandemic, guests can still expect to have a magical and memorable experience. With enhanced cleaning and sanitization measures, modified dining options, reduced capacity and physical distancing measures, and plenty of outdoor activities and recreation options, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is sure to be a hit with guests once again.
